Top 10 Photoshoot Tips
1) Have FUN!
Ok I know that most in your family may cringe at the thought of having to do Family photos but please do not worry or stress about it! I am here to make this a fun family outing and to not make it painful and stiff. Let us have some fun, let loose and document your family for all that it is!
2) Theme or no theme?
What does this mean?? Choosing a theme for your session can be very helpful in setting the overall vibe. Relaxed, casual, bohemian, country chic, denim on denim…. whatever the theme or vibe you need to plan outfits. Trust me on this, it makes for a more enjoyable session. if you don’t have an idea ask me! Im full of them! I love helping families with outfit choices.
3) Chat about locations with your photographer.
I have a handful of locations that I shoot at. I pick them for many different reasons, sun placement being a main reason for these. If you have an idea of where you would like to do a family session we can make it happen!
4) Make a list or Pinterest board of specific shot ideas.
This is really helpful for us as photographers to already know what the of session you are wanting. You probably chose me beacuse you like my work but there are so many angles to consider and so many opportunities for both candid and posed shots and this helps us know what stands out to you when you are looking to have your family photos done! Don’t know? Well that is A ok, I have many ideas and fun things to do for you as a family. If you are able to give me 3 shots of what you love this is a great start to me knowing what you are looking for!
5) Plan outfits well in advance.
You should always begin planning your outfits at the minimum one week in advance. That will give you a few days to round up pieces to determine If there is anything you need tp. purchase to fill in the gaps. our number one tip for planning outfits is to start with moms outfit! Always get your outfit together first and then plan everyone else’s around yours. If mom feels good this is the game changer.
